JADE MADE FILMS
from Champagne Towers to Fireworks
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you mix the perfect Missouri weather, one of the rowdiest wedding crowds I’ve ever filmed, and a couple madly in love… let me paint you a picture. Or better yet, roll the footage. Madison + Calvin’s big day at Whippoorwill Acres in Lancaster, MO was one for the highlight reels.
I showed up as the videographer, and MK Steffes—aka timeline queen, photographer extraordinaire, and keeper of the shot list—had already orchestrated the magic. From start to finish, the day ran smoother than a champagne pour into a tower (which they also had, by the way—10/10 recommend).
The Vibe? Matching Jams and Zero Clutter
Hair and makeup kicked off at 7:00 AM sharp, with music bumpin’ and robe selfies in full swing. Bonus points for sentimental touches like Madison’s robe, made from her mom’s dress (cue all the tears). By 11:00, MK had her camera in hand, and I had my gear rolling.
Winston—The True Star of the Day
Let’s talk about Winston, the couple’s pup, who not only got his own first look (iconic) but also strutted down the aisle like he owned the venue. Honestly, we were all just guests at his wedding.
The First Looks Were Giving…
There were so many moments we won’t forget: Dad’s emotional pause walking Madison down the aisle for the first look with Calvin, the icing of the groomsmen (yes, that kind of icing), and a bridesmaid group shot that somehow turned into a dance battle. Oh, and did I mention beer bongs made a formal appearance? Classy and chaotic in the best way.
Ceremony Highlights:
Dip kiss? Delivered.
Flower girl upstaged by Winston? Obviously.
15-minute ceremony? Efficient and heartfelt.
The Reception? Electric.
Post-ceremony, we rolled straight into cocktail hour with keg beer, thank-you notes, and pre-dinner hype. The grand entrance kicked off the party, followed by a champagne tower that made everyone feel like they were in a Gatsby reboot. There were heartfelt toasts, emotional dances, and then... open dance floor madness. DJ Nicholas Wedding Services understood the assignment.
Golden Hour to Grand Finale
We snuck away for some sunset shots (because golden hour waits for no one), then capped the night with a literal bang—fireworks. I’m telling you, this day didn’t just check the boxes, it lit them on fire and tossed confetti on top.
